Jökulsarlon glacial lagoon and Iceland south coast day tour from Reykjavik

This tour not only features the Seljalandsfoss waterfall; the Skogafoss waterfall; the Dyrholaey promontory; the black sand beach Reynisfjara and a view of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano – but a variety of other sights as well.

After we have visited the aforementioned sights, we drive on to the Skaftafell national park. Skaftafell national park is Iceland’s second largest national park. We are not the kind of people that feel small in the presence of big things: We have lingered in line behind basketball players; and walked underneath skyscrapers,– but we admit that every time that we enter the Skaftafell National Park we begin to feel insignificant.

There is something about the ancientness of the glaciers and the majestic presence of Hvannadalshnjukur (Iceland’s highest mountain) that gives us a sense of awe and wonder. Within the national park travellers will see Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon; black sand diamond beach; the Svinafellsjokull glacier; and the Systrafoss waterfall (the Sisters waterfall), where two waterfalls run side-by-side down a mountain in the middle of a village.

A note about optionals

This tour is different in summer and winter. In summer time (June-Oct) it is possible to take a optional boat tour on the Glacial lagoon (not included in the price). During winter time when the boat ride is not possible you instead have a chance of catching the Northern light’s on the way back to Reykjavik.

If possible and you want we stop and watch a film about the Laki eruption in 1783, the deadliest eruption in recent times in Iceland, killing almost 25% of the population. Join us on this wonderful journey through the best that Iceland’s south coast has to offer.

From 1st December to 1st February this tour is not running. if you want to see the glacial lagoon during that time please send us an email and we will create a tailored tour for you.

This tour has minimum 3 passengers. If you are only looking for a tour for 2 people please send us an email and we will try to find a solution for you.
