Þórsmörk is a magical nature reserve set between three glaciers. The walley, wich takes it´s name from the Norse god Thor, is rich with geological wonders. With its many hiking trails, this is truly a hiker´s paradise. Poetic rivers and stately mountains.
Þórsmörk is one of the most popular hiking areas in Iceland. Named after the pagan god of thunder, Thor (Þórsmörk translates, roughly, to “Thor’s forest”), the valley often brings to mind the cinematic landscapes of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The valley is sure to take your breath away.
We begin the trip with a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the waterfall you can walk behind. Then we head to Thorsmork valley for a Super jeep off-road adventure. On the way to our next stop Gígjökull Glacier tongue we cross many rivers and drive on rough roads. At the end of the valley we have the option of many different hiking trails.
We recommend hiking shoes and waterproof jacket for this adventure.
